You are reading this KB article because you wish to transfer a domain name out of Inhost and to another registrar.
NOTE: this is for .COM/.NET/.ORG domain names only.
.CO.UK/.ES domains follow a different procedure and you will need to ask your new registrar for their procedure.
Transferring a domain name AWAY from Inhost is FREE, but you need to follow the instructions below. If you do not understand the procedure below then DONT transfer the domain name away from us, or simply find someone who knows how to do it, like your webmaster or IT person.
If you need to move your domain name to another registrar/hosting company, you will need to do 3 simple things.
1. Make sure the domain is unlocked
2. Make sure that you are listed as the registrant and admin on the whois details*
3. Request the EPP code
To accomplish the above you will need to login into your account and confirm the details and request the EPP code which you will give to your new registrar.
Unlock the Domain
- Login to your account here
- Select My Domains from the top navigation menu
- Find the domain name in the list and click on the domain to edit it
- Select Registrar-Lock from the side menu
- Disable the Registrar lock
Update Contact Details*
When editing the domain, click on Contact Information in the left menu. Edit your contact details. This will update the records at the main registry immediately and the changes are reflected on the fly.
Request EPP Code
Once the above is confirmed, simply click on the Get EPP code. This will then send the EPP code to the email account listed in the contact details for the domain. You will then give the EPP code to your new registrar.
*Since December 2016, ICANN has changed the rules on domain transfers. If you update the contact details for a domain, the domain name is locked for 60 days.
